Cultural Heritage

Cultural heritage (Indigenous and Non-Indigenous) is the physical and spiritual evidence of past occupation and use. This important statutory requirement needs to be addressed in a responsible, consultative and fully compliant manner in order for projects to proceed in accordance with legislative time frames and good practice.

Spinifex provides support and assistance for the management of cultural heritage in the following categories:

 

  •  Negotiate cultural heritage components of Ancillary Agreements
  • Negotiate Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Agreements including Cultural Heritage Management Plans and similar
  • Negotiate and advise on cultural heritage survey agreements
  • Manage conditions on title like Native Title Protection Conditions (NTPCs) and Duty of Care style arrangements
  • Act as the proponent representative in on-ground Aboriginal cultural heritage surveys to ensure the smooth operation of cultural heritage surveys
  • Coordinate and act as project manager / coordinator for or on behalf of proponents when undertaking cultural heritage surveys
  • Provide advice to proponents on cultural heritage issues and policy
  • Advise clients and participate, mediate and chair cultural heritage committees
